| Virginia’s Academic-Year Governor’s Schools exist to provide gifted students a learning environment stimulating academic and artistic growth. These academic communities foster climates of inquiry, intellectual curiosity, risk-taking and innovation while providing opportunities to expand knowledge and develop advanced skills.
MISSION OF FOVGS
The mission of Friends of Virginia’s Governor’s Schools (FOVGS) is to promote the academic-year governor’s schools’ reputation for quality education and impressive achievement and to protect state funding for these schools. FOVGS pursues this mission by focusing on three strategies:
- Increase the schools’ visibility at the General Assembly.
- Remain informed by tracking legislation and regulations impacting the schools.
- Demonstrate the value of each school’s positive impact in its community.
